We are seeking a talented individual to act as the Trial Manager for the Prepare for Kidney Care study.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced research leader to join a multidisciplinary team within the University of Bristol, and collaborators at participating NHS hospitals.
Prepare for Kidney Care is an NIHR-HTA funded randomised controlled trial which aims to determine the clinical and cost effectiveness of a care pathway that includes preparing for conservative care or preparing for dialysis for kidney failure http://www.bristol.ac.uk/population-health-sciences/projects/prepare-kc-trial/.
The trial is set up and recruiting at 24 centres, although it is anticipated that further study sites will open.
Based within the Bristol Randomised Trials Collaboration (BRTC), a successful UKCRK-registered Trials unit and part of the newly formed Bristol Trials Centre, the post holder will be accountable for making sure that the trial is conducted to the highest possible standards and complies with all regulatory requirements and good clinical practice.
The task of the Trial Manager is to lead all aspects of the trial and to liaise with the PIs, collaborators, trial management committees and centre staff to oversee set up, and to ensure recruitment and follow-up targets are achieved within the proposed time frame in a properly conducted trial.
The post holder will have substantial experience in research, experience of successful trial management (preferably multi-centre) and the proven ability to apply leadership.
Good communication skills are required as the applicant will be working within the NHS and the University, liaising with research staff, clinicians and collaborating academics.
In addition, the post-holder will prepare update reports for the management team and funders and be expected to play a major part in disseminating findings, presenting at conferences, and contributing substantially to publications.
The post provides the opportunity for autonomy and freedom to act independently within organisational policies and will require excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to organise and motivate others, and to take a high level of responsibility.
