We are seeking a researcher with a background in population, evolutionary or statistical genetics to join Dr Gibran Hemani's research group.

You will be based within the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol.

The project will be focused on using genetic pleiotropy to infer causal relationships and model the evolutionary trajectories of complex and molecular traits.

The wealth of genetic data now openly available makes it an exciting time to be working in this arena, and we developed the OpenGWAS database of GWAS summary data and a range of related data and analytical tools as a foundation for this work.

There are multiple facets to the project and the work undertaken can be flexible depending on your skillset and interests.

Candidates with particular skills in statistics, genomics, big data management or software development are particularly encouraged to apply.

The work will be in collaboration with Professor George Davey Smith (Bristol), the OpenGWAS team (Bristol), and collaborators at GlaxoSmithKline, the European Bioinformatics Institute and the Broad Institute.

This is a 2-year post with possibility of extension.

The role exists as a post-doctoral position on a Wellcome Trust funded Sir Henry Dale fellowship.

You will be strongly supported in your career development, with extensive training opportunities.

The department has an excellent track record of supporting researchers in gaining their own fellowships and research independence.

There will also be opportunities for teaching and leading activities within a vibrant research environment.

For informal queries please contact: Gibran Hemani, 07930951876, g.hemani@bristol.ac.uk.

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
