The Faculty of Language, Literature and Culture invites applications for a
W2 Professorship in German as a Foreign Language
Reference is made to § 61 Para. 7 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Your academic work will involve the field of German as a Foreign Language in its entire depth and breadth.
Nevertheless, you should pursue a focal area of research concerning the learning and teaching of German as a Foreign Language with digital media.
Other welcome areas include:
- Theories of Foreign Language Learning
- Teaching Methods and Concepts
- The Cultures and Societies of German-speaking Countries
- Learner Corpora in Foreign Language Acquisition Research
- Literary and Intercultural Learning for Foreign Language Acquisition
You will be responsible for teaching 8 SWS (= 4 courses), in particular concerning the subject of German as a Foreign Language as a part of the M.A. program “Germanistik”.
Furthermore, you will be expected to actively participate in the conceptualization of study programs focussing on German as a Foreign Language / German as a Second Language.
Concerning research, teaching and curriculum development, you are also expected to engage in close cooperation with the professor of German as a Second Language (with a focus on Controlled Second Language Acquisition), the Centre for Media and Interactivity (Zentrum für Medien und Interativität – ZMI), as well as the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC).
We further expect active involvement in the university's international network and contributions to its profile through your own international contacts.
You will also be expected to integrate gender aspects into your research and teaching.
We are seeking candidates who possess a relevant university education, a PhD degree with an outstanding grade and have proved their academic excellence in both research and teaching.
You should provide a record of highly visible, peer reviewed (inter-)national publications as well as experience in the acquisition of external funding.
