(i) support partner organisations,
(ii) establish standardized tools and procedures for companies operating throughout the food chain,
(iii) meta-analyse the produced data, and (iv) build user- and company-friendly resources to support all the microbial tasks associated with the food chain.

The project will focus on all tasks related to microbiome profiling starting from sample collection (including culturing), and will consider four distinct types of tools: 16S rRNA gene profiling, shotgun metagenomics, microarray-based microbiome screening, and real time monitoring through sequencing.

Engage with partners from collaborating organisations in microbiome analysis.

Contribute to the development, optimization, standardization and validation of technologies for microbiome analysis and pathogen detection in samples relevant for the food chain.

Work with MASTER partners to provide software tools and targeted reference databases for standardized analysis of microbiome samples.

Develop long-term tools and resources to support the food-chain into the future.

- PhD in Microbiology with a Bioinformatics/Computational Biology focus.
- Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years’ post-PhD.
