Post Doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 (PD1) - Social & Behavioural Sciences - AgriDISCRETE Project (Temporary) (Ref: 83)
Background to the Role:
The Post-doctoral Fellow will work on the AgriDISCRETE project. AgriDISCRETE is a 2-year interdisciplinary research project, funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
Recent years have seen a rapid increase in digital innovation in the agriculture and forestry sector including the use of cybersecurity, big data, data analytics, internet of things, robotics and automation, social media, cloud technology and mobile services.
These technologies offer the potential for a more productive and sustainable agricultural sector.
The increased development and deployment of these technologies generate specific and unique challenges related to data use and data sharing.
The overall aim of AgriDISCRETE is to contribute to the development of Digital Agriculture in Ireland through the identification of good data governance practices.
Good data governance reflects the actions and decisions taken to manage data use, data security, data sharing and data ownership related to the use of digital technologies in agriculture and forestry.
This interdisciplinary project will consider both technical and business model solutions, whilst also identifying and addressing socio-economic and ethical challenges associated with good data governance.
Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:
•To undertake a systematic literature review.
•To undertake high quality qualitative field research (including focus groups and co-design workshops).
•To carry out qualitative analysis of data.
•PhD in Social Science, Psychology, Sociology, Geography, Governance, Science & Technology Studies, or equivalent.
•Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years’ post-PhD
•Experience in exploring social and behavioural issues related to digitalisation / new technologies in society.
•Experience in an inter-disciplinary research setting.
