Job title: Post Doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 (PD1) - Milking Scientist - Vistamilk (Temporary)(Ref: 55)
Basic function of the role:
•Development and testing of new milking management strategies for dairy cattle.
•Development and implementation of optimisation strategies for increasing milking efficiency while improving milk quality and animal health.
•Interacting with industry and academic project partners to ensure successful completion of the project milestones.
•Dissemination of knowledge generated to the wider scientific and farming communities.
Duties & Responsibilities specific to the role:
•Increase milking parlour throughput by applying optimized milking management strategies.
•Evaluation of the effects of changing milking machine settings on milking efficiency.
•Development of statistical models for analysis.
•Quantification of effects of increasing milking efficiency on cow health.
•Quantification of effects of increasing milking efficiency on milk quality.
•Liaising with industry partners to develop optimization algorithms suitable for commercial deployment.
•PhD in Engineering, Computer Science or Agricultural Science.
•Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years’ post-PhD.
•Experience of optimization programming in MATLAB or related software.
•Experience in handling of large datasets.
