An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate or Senior Research Associate to join a multidisciplinary international research collaboration investigating Antimicrobial Resistance in Thailand.
We are seeking an experienced and able qualitative or mixed methods researcher with a background in social science and health to join the One Health Drivers of Antibacterial Resistance in Thailand (OH-DART) project funded through MRC (MR/S004769/1).
The postholder will be based in Population Health Sciences at Bristol Medical School and will join Bristol AMR, a multidisciplinary, cross faculty network of researchers working on the challenge of antimicrobial resistance http://www.bristol.ac.uk/amr.
The post is available on a full-time basis currently until end April 2021 and will provide a good opportunity for obtaining research training and experience of collaborative working in global health.
The successful candidate will join an international multidisciplinary team of microbiologists, mathematical modellers, epidemiologists, veterinarians and social scientists from UK and Thailand.
The project aims to build a holistic picture of the human, animal and environmental drivers of ABR in Thailand and to utilise this information for local benefit and as an exemplar for other countries.
The postholder will contribute to development of research tools, undertake analysis of qualitative data, and coordinate between the social science and other workstreams.
You will collaborate closely with Thailand-based researchers working with local households, health care providers and farms, and with workstream leads across the academic institutions contributing to the project.
You will need a strong background in qualitative or mixed methods health-related research and preferably experience of working in low or middle-income Asian countries.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are required.
You will be able to work effectively within a team environment and preferably have experience of translating social science research findings for other academic and non-academic audiences.
It is desirable that you have an interest in antimicrobial resistance and public health. Travel to Thailand is required.
