Title: Contract Technician - Dietary Analysis (Ref: CT/MPK/0719)
Teagasc is now seeking to recruit a highly motivated, ambitious scientist with experience in HPLC analysis to an industry-funded project.
The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant multi-disciplinary team to assess the health benefits to the gut, of various food ingredients and products.
The successful candidate will perform oligosaccharide analysis on various ingredients. A Dionex HPAEC-PAD system will be used to investigate dietary fibre, polysaccharides and oligosaccharides in the food products.
The successful candidate will be a creative, independent thinker with willingness to learn and acquire new skills in HPLC and oligosaccharide analysis.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare various food ingredients and products for carbohydrate analysis.
Perform a range of HPLC analyses on food ingredients and products including polysaccharide and oligosaccharide profiling.
Produce data of excellent scientific quality in terms of precision, accuracy and verifiability.
Interpret research findings and critically analyze and evaluate ones findings and those of others
Candidates must have a Level 6 qualification in food science or a related discipline.
A Level 7 qualification in a food related discipline.
