Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor, General Practice and Primary Healthcare

Who are we?
Our department within in the University of Auckland is very research-active, with researchers involved in a number of national and international collaborations, as well as many inter-disciplinary projects across the University of Auckland.
We have a world-leading vaccinology research group. The University of Auckland has one of the only two medical schools in New Zealand, with an intake of 300 students per year.
The Department of General Practice and Primary Health Care is responsible for all general practice teaching including arranging placements for medical students from Year 2 to Year 6. We have a number of innovative rural emersion programmes in the top half of New Zealand.
We also have an active primary care postgraduate certificate and diploma education programme, plus honours, master and doctoral students. The department houses the Immunisation Advisory Centre http://www.immune.org.nz/ and the Goodfellow Unit https://www.goodfellowunit.org/ which provides continuing professional development for primary care professionals.
This unique opportunity will be supporting the undergraduate medical programme teaching within the General Practice and Primary Health Care department.
The successful candidate will have plenty of scope to develop the academic discipline of General Practice and Primary Health Care, including:
• Developing and teaching in clinical learning environments in primary health care for students of the undergraduate Medical programme MBChB
• Assisting in the development and teaching of postgraduate courses and programmes in primary health care for students from a range of primary care disciplines
• Supervising postgraduate research students
• Developing, conducting and promoting relevant research
Who are we looking for?
You will have an MBChB (or equivalent); FRNZCGP (or equivalent); or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline. You will be clinically active and will have excellent communication skills, demonstrate equal commitment to research, teaching. You will also have the ability to interact and collaborate productively with other departments within the University.
