Job Title: Professor (Scale 2) in Asian Studies
Department: School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures
Contract: Permanent Whole-Time Post
UCC wishes to appoint an experienced academic to the role of Professor (Scale 2) in Asian Studies.
Reporting to the Head of Department, the Professor will have expertise in one or more areas of Asian Studies, hold a PhD in a relevant area, and have native or near-native competence (speaking/reading/writing) in one or more of the languages of the Department (Chinese, Japanese, Korean).
While academic expertise and evidence of research and teaching in all areas of Asian Studies are welcome, applications from candidates in Chinese Studies are especially welcome.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the MA Asian Studies, among others, while also pursuing research and contributing to the administrative work of the Department and School.

Appointment may be made on the Professor (Scale 2) Salary Scale: €98,319 – €115,025(Scale B)/€ 93,530 - € 109,403(Scale A).
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
