The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancies in the Laboratory for photovoltaics in the frame of research projects funded by the industrial partner Avancis.
Together with the industrial partner the Laboratory for Photovoltaics investigates thin film solar cells, which are more cost efficient than conventional solar cells because they need less material and energy for their production. The successful candidate will perform the optical analysis of industrial solar cells.
1 Doctoral Candidate in Physics (Solar Cells) M/F Start date: January 2019
Initial 14 months fixed-term contract, renewable for up to 42 months, full-time (40 hrs/week)
Employee and student status
The doctoral candidate will be a member of the Physics and Materials Science research unit within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication at the University of Luxembourg. He or she will perform research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Siebentritt.
Photoluminescence analysis of industrial absorber layers based on Cu(InGa)(SSe)2
Alkali treatment of absorbers
Close contact to industrial partner
Publications in international journals and conferences
Writing a thesis
Master degree in Physics (or equivalent) with excellent grades
Good background in solid state physics, preferably in solar cells, semiconductors
Self-motivated, committed and curious
Creative and able to think independently
Excellent command of English
Exciting topic in the context of solar energy
