The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a W3 Professorship in Diseases of Ruminants as of now

Reference is made to § 61 section 7 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.

We expect the ability to cover the entire subject area “diseases of ruminants” in teaching, research and diagnostics.

Additional scientific achievements in diseases of ruminants (e.g. habilitation) and particular teaching qualifications are required.

Furthermore, the license to practice veterinary medicine (e.g. cattle, small ruminants) and/or the Diplomate of the European College of Bovine Health Management (ECBHM) are required.

Publications in peer reviewed national and international journals are expected.

Successful fundraising activities (preferable DFG), commitment to promote young scientists and participation in post graduate education at the International Giessen Graduate School for the Life Sciences (GGL) and the Ph.D. program of the Faculties of Human and Veterinary Medicine of the Justus-Liebig-University (JLU) are obligatory.

We expect outstanding research qualifications in the field of ruminant diseases with special attention to veterinary public health, animal hygiene/animal welfare, epidemiology and infectious diseases, individual animal treatment as well as veterinary herd treatment as well as the willingness to manage the ambulatory service.

The willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation and participation in research net-works within and outside the faculty is expected, particularly with relevant research groups from other areas of life science faculties (e.g. agricultural sciences, biology or medicine) or the Research Campus of Central Hessen.

Teaching covers the entire field of diseases of ruminants according to the “Tierärztliche Approbationsverordnung” (TAppV) and study regulation specifications of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine as well as interdisciplinary and postgraduate teaching. The integration of gender issues in teaching and research is strongly encouraged.

The JLU aims to employ more women in academic research. We therefore particularly encourage female candidates to apply.

JLU also pursues the goal at faculty leadership level of increased competence in dealing with gender and family-related issues.

JLU is regarded as a family-friendly university. Applicants with children are very welcome. Applications from disabled people of equal aptitude will be given preference.
