In teaching, participation in in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes of Faculties “Sciences of History and Cultural Studies” and “Language, Literature, Culture” is part of the job profile. A prerequisite for this is proven teaching experience in the breadth of the subject. It is expected that candidates are willing to further develop the Bachelor's and especially the Master's programmes at the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU). Internationally visible research work and successes in the independent acquisition of external fundings (DFG, BMBF) are taken for granted, as is the willingness to actively participate in interdisciplinary research alliances and in the Graduate Centre for Cultural Studies (GGK/GCSC). Collaboration in the Centre for Media and Interactivity (ZMI) is expected.
JLU aims to employ more women in academic research. We therefore particularly encourage female candidates to apply. JLU also pursues the goal at faculty leadership level of increased competence in dealing with gender and family-related issues. JLU is regarded as a family-friendly university. Applicants with children are very welcome. Applications from disabled people of equal aptitude will be given preference.
