The MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) is seeking a postdoctoral scientist with a PhD and research experience in either virology or cell signalling. The aim of this MRC-funded programme, led by Prof Massimo Palmarini and Dr Sam Wilson, is to play a leading role in a research programme focussed on identifying and characterising genome-encoded antiviral defences in a variety of animal species reservoirs of zoonotic viral infections. More specifically, we aim to identify the role of the IFN responses in hampering virus cross-species jumps [see Shaw et al PLoS Biology 15(12):e2004086. doi: 10.1371/journal.pbio.2004086].

Research at the CVR spans molecular, structural and cellular levels through to the individual host and affected population, integrating molecular and structural virology, cell biology, pathogenesis, epidemiology and mathematical modelling, virus genomics and bioinformatics.
