Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Electrical Energy Management Group within the Faculty of Engineering. The Group researches underpinning power electronics, electrical drives, and electrical generation technologies that have a vital role to play in managing energy and improving conversion efficiency, affording Ďgame-changesí in low carbon transport systems and renewable energy supply. The group comprises an interdisciplinary team of 7 academic staff, 16 PDRAs and 16 PhD students. The groupís research portfolio exceeds £7M in active grants. The group collaborates closely with a number of industry partners.

Recent award of research funding has generated an opportunity for the appointment of a researcher in power electronics to support the Group's research into high density power converters. The research will focus around an exciting topic of virtual prototyping for power electronics. The post will form part of an interdisciplinary team of post-doctoral researchers and postgraduates investigating power electronic conversion concepts. The post will also be affiliated with the £23M UK EPSRC National Centre for Power Electronics.

You are expected to have experience in thermal modelling of power electronics systems, application of wide-bandgap devices (SiC, GaN) and EMI analysis. Applicants with further background in CFD analysis, numerical simulation methods are particularly encouraged to apply.

The post-holder will work very closely with other leading UK universities and industrial partners within the UK National Centre for Power Electronics. The post provides an ideal opportunity to undertake high quality research in the field. The post-holder will be encouraged and supported to attend international conferences, and to publish research findings in high-impact journals.

This appointment will be an open-ended appointment at Grade I, Research Profile level with funding for up to 21 months.
